We are brought up knowing the few basics that are really great regarding 'regular life' as in stretch before you exercise and so on. Nevertheless, when you move into a Motor-home that you can experience a little like a 3 years old kid on the first day of his/her school. Fortunately, even an old dog can learn now new tricks & a bit of practice & good planning that you can become a pro-RVer.
With this blog, we are going to elaborate pre-flight check things before heading to Southern California RV camping that you do before moving the beast on the road, check them out:
1)Check The Fluids
Fluids include oil, coolant, hydraulics & transmission.
Alike all the machines, RV has its own set of fluids & oils, which keep everything seamless & running as they need a little bit of checking. The oil sticks in the Motor-home that is not different from a car except, that is quite a tad longer. In actual, diesel uses more oil as compared to cars so that RV campers should check out this every time.
On the other hand, coolant in your RV is an opaque container. However, hydraulic fluids are also sticky by nature as you can check electronically. Hence, it is pivotal to analyze deeply before heading to any camping trip along with your Motor-home.
2)Check Out The Battery Levels
The Motor-home consists of four massive house batteries that are Liquid Lead Acid. Also, it needs to have their electrolyte levels that should be checked out once in a month. Just slide out the battery tray, and screw off the caps. The plates should be covered, and if it is getting low top it off with distilled water. You can also check the exact level by battery hydrometer.
3)Tanks
When you have stayed at a campsite for more than a week, then black & gray tanks – the tanks that hold liquids that would probably be getting full. Simply give them a dump at the dump station, just rinse the tanks & dump again. The order of the tank should be black first, then gray. And, once you are done, then add chemicals for tank treatment. We usually dump when tanks are more than 2/3 full.
4)Tire Pressure
Once the Motor-home is off the jacks & the sliders are in, then you will want to check out the pressure of your tires that make sure where it should be. So correct the pressure that depends on the weight. However, tires are in bigger size tend to lose pressure with temperature & altitude changes, therefore, it is a good idea to check them more often. With the help of a built-in compressor, you can refill air to tires.
5)Analyze The Tires
Put gloves on your hands, then runs your hands around the tires in order to check the obstructions, nails or anything else, which might be jutting out.
6)Additional Quick Check Ups
As we assume that all these above-mentioned things are biggies, but there are other few quick checks that you have to do before heading to the roads of Los Angeles RV camping. You must have heard of campers who lost their antennas or forgot to disconnect tank hoses that could be leading to some major disastrous moments, instead of costly repairs. So go through your Motor-home before heading to roads, and make sure there is nothing over there to lose.
